മൈന
ഒരു ചെറിയ പക്ഷിയാണ് നാട്ടുമൈന.[2] [3][4][5] മൈനയുടെ വലിപ്പം സാധാരണയായി 23സെ.മീ. മുതൽ 26 സെ.മീ. വരെയാണ്. നാട്ടിൻപുറങ്ങളിലും പട്ടണപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലുമെല്ലാം മൈനകളെ സമൃദ്ധമായി കാണാൻ സാധിക്കും. ഏതാണ്ടൊരു മങ്ങിയ തവിട്ടു നിറമാണ് ദേഹമെങ്കിലും തല, കഴുത്ത്, മാറ്‌, വാൽ എന്നിവ കറുപ്പും, ചിറകിന്നടിഭാഗം, അടിവയർ, പിൻ‌ഭാഗം, എന്നിവ വെളുപ്പുമാണ്.കൊക്കും കാലുകളും മഞ്ഞ നിറമാണ്. കൊക്കിനു സമീപത്തു തുടങ്ങി കണ്ണിനു ചുറ്റുമായി കവിളിൽ പടർന്നു കിടക്കുന്ന മഞ്ഞത്തോൽ നാട്ടുമൈനയെ തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ സഹായിക്കും. പറക്കുമ്പോൾ ചിറകിലുള്ള വെളുത്ത പുള്ളികൾ ഒരു വര പോലെ കാണാം. ഒരോ കാലും മാറി മാറി വെച്ച് നടക്കുകയാണ് ചെയ്യുക. നടക്കുമ്പോൾ ശരീരം ഒരോ ഭാഗത്തേയ്ക്ക് ചെരിയും. മിശ്രഭുക്കാണ്. അവ പ്രാണികളും പഴങ്ങളും കഴിക്കുന്നു.[6][7] [8] [9]
