ഇന്ത്യൻ ഫീൽഡ് ഹോക്കി താരം
ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മുൻകാല ഹോക്കി താരമാണ്‌ മെർവ്യൻ ഫെർണാഡസ്.1970കളിലെ ഇന്ത്യൻ എയർ ലെൻസിന്റെ മുങ്കാല കളിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം[1] ഇന്ത്യക്കായി സ്ഥിരതയാർന്ന പ്രകടനം കാഴ്ചവെച്ച ഒരു കളിക്കാരനായിരുന്നു ഇദ്ദേഹം.ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ബോഡി സെർവുകളും മുന്നേറ്റ നിരരിലെ ഫിനിഷിങ്ങ് വർക്കുകളും എടുത്ത് പറയാവുന്നവയാണ്‌.1980ലെ മോസ്ക്കോ ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഹോക്കി ടീം സ്വർണ്ണം നേടിയപ്പോൾ അതിൽ അംഗമായിരുന്നു ഇദ്ദേഹം[2].ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അച്ഛനായ ജിയോ ഫെർണൻഡസ് P.M.M. ഇന്നർ വീൽ സ്ക്കൂളിൽ ദീർഘകാലം കോച്ചായിരുന്നു.
