സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമര സേനാനി
ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യയിൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷുകാരുടെ എതിർപ്പിനെ നേരിട്ട സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമര സേനാനി ആയിരുന്നു മാവീരൻ അലഗമുത്ത് കോൺ. തിരുനെൽവേലി ജില്ലയിലെ കട്ടളൻകുളം ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം ജനിച്ചത്. എട്ടയപുരം പട്ടണത്തിൽ ഒരു പട്ടാള നേതാവായ[1] ഇദ്ദേഹം ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സേനയ്ക്കെതിരെ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പരാജയപ്പെടുകയും 1759-ൽ വധിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.[2]

എല്ലാ വർഷവും തമിഴ്നാട് സർക്കാർ അലഗമുത്ത് കോണിന്റെ പേരിൽ പൂജ ചടങ്ങുകൾ നടത്തുന്നു.[2] 2012- ൽ അലഗമുത്ത് കോണെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഒരു ഡോക്യുമെന്ററി ചിത്രം മുൻ ധനകാര്യമന്ത്രി പി. ചിദംബരം പ്രകാശനം ചെയ്തു.[3]
കോണിനോടുള്ള ആദരസൂചകമായി, ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റ് 2015 ഡിസംബർ 26-ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ചിത്രീകരിച്ച് ഒരു തപാൽ സ്റ്റാമ്പ് പുറത്തിറക്കി.[4][5]
