2016 മേയ് 1-ന് കാനഡായിലെ ഫോർട്ട് മാക്മറിയിൽ കാട്ടുതീ ഉണ്ടായി വലിയ നാശനഷ്ടം സംഭവിച്ചു. ഒരു ലക്ഷത്തിലേറെ ഹെക്ടറിലെ വനസമ്പത്ത് കത്തിനശിച്ചു.[4]

തീ പടർന്ന് അതബാസ്ക, ഹാങ്ങിങ്സ്റ്റോൺ പുഴകൾ കടന്ന് ആയിരത്തോളം ചതുരശ്രകിലോമീറ്ററിൽ ദുരന്തം സംഭവിച്ചു. 75 ചതുരശ്ര കീലോമീറ്ററിനുള്ളിലായിരുന്നു കാട്ടുതീ നാലുദിവസം കൊണ്ട് പത്തിരട്ടിയോളം പ്രദേശത്ത് വ്യാപിച്ചു. ഇത്രയധികം വലിയ ദുരന്തം റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്തെങ്കിലും ആർക്കും ആളപായം സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. തൊണ്ണൂറായിരത്തോളം പേരെ കുടിയൊഴിപ്പിച്ചു.
