This template provides an infobox for articles about South African municipalities. It automatically populates many fields in the infobox when provided with the official identifying code assigned to the municipality by the Municipal Demarcation Board. (A complete list of these codes is included in the list of municipalities in South Africa.)
The only required parameters are muni_code, which must be set to the municipality's identifying code, and province.
With the muni_code parameter set, the template will automatically be populated with:
- The population and population density
- Land area
- The racial and linguistic profile of the population
This information is drawn from the subpages of Template:Metadata South Africa/muni.
Many of the other parameters provided by {{Infobox settlement}} may optionally be set; see that template's documentation for more information. In particular, you may want to set the latitude and longitude parameters (and the other coordinate-related parameters) to describe the general geographic location.
