ഫലകം:Biblesource
Biblesource is a template to allow citation of Bibles available in Wikisource. The desired citation is displayed in (book chapter:verse) notation, and upon mouse-over a tooltip is provided to the user informing them of what translation is being used. Additionally, a reference is created with the verse notation along with the translation used. Inside this reference, a link is created to Wikisource's copy of the translation that anchors directly to the specific verse in question. By default, if no translation is specified, the King James Version (Oxford, 1769) is used, as this is a public-domain translation available in complete form on wikisource. The title of the generated link may be changed to suit the editor's needs.

Limitations
തിരുത്തുകBear in mind, this is linking to a Wikisource article, which will display the entirety of the book you are citing including all chapters and all verses. Fortunately, each verse is anchored; the reader's attention can be directed to any verse you desire. However, this is not a gateway; this template cannot cite multiple verses, display linear translations, search for terms, display a specific selection of verses, etc. Abbreviations, miscapitalizations, misspellings, etc. will likely foul up the link, as there is no inherent ability to auto-correct user-supplied information.
Also please consider that many translations do not have all books available. Some of the translations available on Wikisource are works in progress; even if the translation in question covers the whole Bible, not all of its books may have been uploaded to Wikisource yet, in which case the link will fail. The safest thing to do if you are not sure is to not specify any translation at all -- in this case, the KJV will be used, which is complete including inter-testamental works such as Maccabees.
- Using this template inside of a ref tag requires the ref=yes parameter, otherwise an error will be shown to the reader
"Safe translations" that have all the major books available on Wikisource include:
- American Standard Version (1901)
- King James Version (Oxford Standard, 1769)
- World English Bible (Preface, parts of apocrypha missing)
- Wycliffe's original translation
Usage
തിരുത്തുകBasic usage:
{{Biblesource|book|chapter-and-verse|translation|(optional) custom title}}
Named parameters:
{{Biblesource|book|chapter-and-verse|translation|text = verse text|title = link title}}
This will create a link to Wikisource's copy of that translation at the specified book, chapter and verse. Additionally, if the user hovers the cursor above the link, a tooltip will be generated with the link title and the name of the translation being cited.
- book - The full book title must be spelled out and capitalized exactly as in the Wikisource article. For example, Jn won't work, neither will john, because the article uses John. This template works with number prefixes (e.g. 1 John, 2 John) and no separate parameter is required. However, Roman numerals are not supported (unless Wikisource has a redirect in place...)
- chapter-and-verse - Use colons; e.g. 3:16 means chapter 3, verse 16. This link has to be exactly one verse; if this is not followed then the user will be linked to chapter 1 verse 1. If you wish to cite a set of verses (e.g. Exodus 20:2-17), you should link to the first verse and use the title parameter to change the displayed text to match your citation.
- text=: optional parameter; this will change the text of the verse to whatever you want. Use with caution, as the user needs to know what verse of the Bible is being indicated here. If you wanted to, you could simply put the text of the entire verse here so the user wouldn't need to click the link to see what it says.
- title=: optional parameter; this will change the title of the Wikisource link to whatever you want. Use with caution, as the user needs to know what verse of the Bible is being indicated here.
- note=: optional parameter; this will add a note at the end of reference for the reader's information.
- translation: optional parameter; the default is the Oxford King James. You may use any translation for which there is an equivalent Wikisource article - it must either be one of the following abbreviations, or it must be the same spelling the Wikisource article name uses. For example, "King James" will work, "King James Version" will not, because there's no article with that title. Capitalization does NOT matter. The following abbreviations are supported (completely available translations bolded):
- AS, ASV = American Standard Version (1901)
- AV = King James Version (Authorized, 1611)
- Douay, D-R = Douay-Rheims Bible (1610)
- JPS = The Bible (Jewish Publication Society, 1917)
- KJV = King James Version (Oxford Standard, 1769) (default)
- Tyn = William Tyndale's translation (1526)
- WE, WEB = World English Bible (draft form)
- Wyc = John Wycliffe's translation (c. 1380s)
- WS = Wikisource
- group: (optional) this will assign the produced reference links to a group, so that they may be separated into groups. Please see "Separating reference lists and explanatory notes".
- ref=yes: Required if you are using this template inside a <ref> tag. Otherwise you do not need this parameter.
