[[ഇന്ത്യ|ഇന്ത്യൻ]] സംസ്ഥാനമായ [[തമിഴ്നാട്|തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ]] ഒരു ജില്ലയാണ് '''കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ല''' ({{Lang-ta|கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்டம்}}, (Kanyakumari District also spelled Kanniyakumari or Kanniakumari District)). മുമ്പ് [[കേരളം|കേരള]] സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന കന്യാകുമാരി പിന്നീട് തമിഴ്നാട് സംസ്ഥാനത്തോട് ചേർക്കപ്പെട്ടതാണ്. തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ മുപ്പത്തിരണ്ട് ജില്ലകളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ചെറുതാണ് കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ല. ഇന്ത്യൻ മഹാസമുദ്രത്തിന്റെ തീരത്ത് ഇന്ത്യൻ ഉപദ്വീപിന്റെ തെക്കേ അറ്റത്തു സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന വിനോദ സഞ്ചാരത്തിനു പേരുകേട്ട കന്യാകുമാരി പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്നുമാണ് ജില്ലക്ക് കന്യാകുമാരി എന്ന പേര് വന്നത്. കന്യാകുമാരി പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്നും ഇരുപത് കിലോമീറ്റർ ദൂരെ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന [[നാഗർകോവിൽ]] പട്ടണമാണ് ജില്ലാ ആസ്ഥാനം. തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും സാക്ഷരത കൂടിയ ജില്ലയായ കന്യാകുമാരിയെ സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസപരമായി മുന്നിട്ടു നിൽക്കുന്ന ജില്ലയായി മാനവ വിഭവ ശേഷി വകുപ്പ് വിലയിരുത്തുന്നു. സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് പുരോഗതി കൈവരിച്ചവയിൽ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ജില്ലയാണിത്. സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് പ്രവാസികൾ കൂടുതലുള്ള ഒരു ജില്ലയുമാണിത്.
