ഒന്നാം ലോകമഹായുദ്ധത്തിന്റെ അനന്തരഫലമായി തുർക്കിയിൽ നിന്ന് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് സാമ്രാജ്യം പിടിച്ച പലസ്തീൻ-ട്രാൻസ്ജോർദാൻ പ്രദേശങ്ങളുടെ ഭരണനിർവ്വഹണത്തിനായി ലീഗ് ഓഫ് നേഷൻസ് ഏർപ്പെടുത്തിയ സംവിധാനമായിരുന്നു പലസ്തീൻ മാൻഡേറ്റ്. സൈക്സ് - പികോ കരാർ പ്രകാരം 1920-ൽ പലസ്തീൻ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യാനുള്ള അധികാരം ബ്രിട്ടന് ലഭിച്ചു. ഇതിലേക്ക് ട്രാൻസ്ജോർദാൻ കൂടി ചേർക്കപ്പെടുകയായിരുന്നു. 1920-ൽ പലസ്തീനിലും 1921-ൽ ട്രാൻസ്ജോർദാനിലും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണമാരംഭിച്ചെങ്കിലും മാൻഡേറ്റ് പ്രാബല്യത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്നത് 1923 സെപ്റ്റംബർ 29 മുതൽ 1948 മെയ് 15 വരെയായിരുന്നു.[1][2][3]
