ഡിസീസ് എക്സ് (അജ്ഞാത രോഗം) എന്ന പദം, ഭാവിയിൽ എന്നെങ്കിലും സംഭവിച്ചേക്കാവുന്ന മാരകമായ പകർച്ച വ്യാധിയുടെ താത്കാലിക പേരാണ്[1],[2]. ഈ പകർച്ചവ്യാധി എന്തായിരിക്കുമെന്നോ, അതിൻറെ രോഗലക്ഷണങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ പ്രകടമാവുമെന്നോ, അതിനു കാരണക്കാരായ രോഗാണുക്കൾ ഏതാവുമെന്നോ ഉള്ള വിവരങ്ങൾ ഇപ്പോൾ ശാസ്ത്രലോകത്തിന് അജ്ഞാതമാണ്[3],[4]. എങ്കിലും അത്തരമൊരു സാധ്യതയാണ് ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടന (ഡബ്ല്യുഎച്ച്ഒ) ഡിസീസ് എക്സ് എന്ന പേരിൽ അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നത്[3],[5] മാരകരോഗങ്ങളുടെ മൂല പട്ടികയിൽ ( ബ്ലൂപ്രിന്റ് പ്രിയോറിട്ടി ഡിസീസസ് ലിസ്റ്റ്) ഈ പദം ഇടം പിടിച്ചു[3],[6],[7]. തികച്ചും അജ്ഞാതമായ ഈ രോഗത്തെ നേരിടാൻ സന്നദ്ധരായിരിക്കേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്നും അതിനാവശ്യമായ ഗവേഷണ-വികസന സംവിധാനങ്ങൾ തയ്യാറായിരിക്കണമെന്നുമാണ് ലോകാരോഗ്യസംഘടന ഈ നടപടി കൊണ്ടുദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത്.[5],[8],[9]

ലോകാരോഗ്യസംഘടന 2018 ഫെബ്രുവരിയിൽ പുറത്തിറക്കിയ മാരകരോഗങ്ങളുടെ മൂല പട്ടികയിൽ ഡിസീസ് എക്സ് എന്ന പേര് പരിഭ്രാന്തിയുളവാക്കി.[10], ഏതാണ് "രോഗം എക്സ്" എന്നത് ഊഹാപോഹങ്ങൾക്ക് കാരണമായി[11],[12],[13],[14] ഒരു പ്രത്യേക രോഗത്തെ പരാമർശിക്കാതെ ഒരു ആശയമായിട്ടാണ് ലോകാരോഗ്യ സംഘടന ഈ പേര് നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്.[5] ചില മുഖ്യധാരാ മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ ഇത് ഒരു ജൈവായുധമായിരിക്കുമെന്ന വിവക്ഷയും ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്[15],[16]. ഇത് ഒരു സൂനോട്ടിക് അണുബാധ ( മൃഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് മനുഷ്യരിലേക്കു പകരുന്ന പകർച്ച വ്യാധി) ആയിരിക്കാമെന്നാണ് ഭൂരിപക്ഷാഭിപ്രായം[17] . 2020 ജനുവരിയിൽ, ഏതാനും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് വാർത്താ മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ 2019–20-ലെ വുഹാൻ കൊറോണ വൈറൽ രോഗത്തെ "ഡിസീസ് എക്സ്" എന്ന് വിശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് [18],[19],[20].

പശ്ചാത്തലം തിരുത്തുക

മാരകമായ പകർച്ചവ്യാധികൾ ലോകവ്യാപകമായി പകരാതിരിക്കാനും അത്തരം രോഗങ്ങളെ ഭൂമുഖത്തു നിന്നു മായ്ച്ചു കളയാനും ഉള്ള നടപടികൾ കൈക്കൊള്ളുക എന്നത് ലോകാരോഗ്യസംഘടനയുടെ പ്രവർത്തനമേഖലയിൽ ഉൾപെടുന്നു[21]. ഈയടുത്തകാലത്ത് സാർസ് ( 2003, SARS ), എച്5 എൻ1(2003, H5N1) , പാൻഡെമിക് എച്1എൻ1(2009, Pandmic H1N1), മെർസ്-സിഒവി(2012, MERS-CoV ) എബോള(2014, EBOLA), നിപ, സിക്ക വൈറസുകൾ ലോകത്തിനാകമാനം ഭീഷണിയായിത്തീർന്നു[22]. ഇത്തരം രോഗഭീഷണികൾ ഉരുത്തിരിയുന്നതിൻറെ മൂലകാരണങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതിലൂടെ, ഭാവിഭീഷണികളെ മുൻകൂട്ടി കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞ്, അവയെ ഫലപ്രദമായി നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാക്കാനും നിർവീര്യപ്പെടുത്താനുമുള്ള നടപടികൾ കൈക്കൊള്ളാൻ ലോകാരോഗ്യസംഘടന തീരുമാനിച്ചു [23],[24],[25]. ഈ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിലാണ്, ഒരു കരുതൽ നടപടി എന്ന നിലക്ക് മാരകരോഗങ്ങളുടെ മൂലപട്ടികയിൽ ഡിസീസ് എക്സ് എന്ന പേരു കൂടി ചേർക്കപ്പെട്ടത്[2],[3].

വാക്സിനുകൾ തിരുത്തുക

രോഗങ്ങൾക്കെതിരായി വിധ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ വിവിധ ലാബുകളിൽ നടക്കുന്ന പ്രതിരോധ ഗവേഷണങ്ങളെ ആഗോളതലത്തിൽ കൂട്ടിയിണക്കാനായി ലോകാരോഗ്യസംഘടന സെപി (CEPI, Coalition for Epidemic Preparedeness Innovations) എന്ന കൂട്ടായ്മ രൂപീകരിച്ചു[25]. ഇതിൻറെ ഭാഗമായി ലണ്ടനിലെ ഇംപീരിയൽ കോളെജിലെ ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞർ, റാപിഡ് വാക് എന്ന പേരിൽ പുതിയൊരു വാക്സിൻ പദ്ധതിക്ക് ആരംഭമിട്ടു[26]. സ്വയമേവ പലമടങ്ങു പെരുകാൻ കഴിവുള്ള ആർ.എൻ.എ.യിൽ (self amplifying RNA അഥവാ SaRNA) നിന്നാണ് ഈ ഗവേഷകസംഘം വാക്സിൻ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തിയെടുക്കുക[26],[27].
