തത്തകളുടെ ഒരു സ്പീഷീസ്
Cacatuidae കുടുംബത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള തത്തകളുടെ 21 സ്പീഷീസുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് കോക്കറ്റൂ. സിറ്റാകോയിഡി (യഥാർത്ഥ തത്തകൾ), സ്രിഗോപൊയിഡി (ന്യൂസിലാൻഡ് തത്തകൾ) എന്നിവയോടൊപ്പം കോക്കറ്റൂ പിറ്റിറ്റിഫോംസ് നിരയിലുൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഫിലിപ്പീൻസിൽ നിന്നും കിഴക്കൻ ഇന്തോനേഷ്യൻ ദ്വീപുകൾ വാലാസിയ മുതൽ ന്യൂ ഗിനിയ വരെയും, സോളമൻ ദ്വീപുകൾ, ആസ്ട്രേലിയ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലും ഈ കുടുംബം പ്രധാനമായും വ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
