ഹാരിഥ് അൽ മക്സൂമിയുടെ മകളായി മക്കയിലാണ് ഉമ്മു ഹാകിം ജനിക്കുന്നത്[1][2][3][4]. ഇക്‌രിമ ഇബ്ൻ അബൂജഹലിന്റെ[2][5] ഭാര്യയായിരുന്ന ഉമ്മു ഹാകിം, 634-ൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണശേഷം (യർമൂക് യുദ്ധത്തിൽ) അബൂ സൈദ് ഖാലിദ് ഇബ്ൻ ആസിനെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്തു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മരണത്തോടെയാണ് ഉമർ ഇബ്ൻ ഖത്താബിനെ അവർ വിവാഹം കഴിക്കുന്നത്[6]. ഫാത്വിമ എന്ന പുത്രി ഇവർക്ക് ജനിച്ചിരുന്നു[4].
ഉഹ്ദ് യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ഖുറൈശികളോടൊപ്പം മുസ്‌ലിംകൾക്കെതിരെ സേനയിൽ സേവനം ചെയ്ത ഉമ്മു ഹാകിം, വാദ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകി[2][5].
630-ൽ മക്കാവിജയത്തോടെ ഇസ്‌ലാം സ്വീകരിച്ച ഉമ്മു ഹാകിം[2][5][7], തന്റെ ഭർത്താവായിരുന്ന ഇക്‌രിമയെ അതിനായി പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചു[8].
