അമ അട്ട ഐഡു
ഒരു ഘാന സ്വദേശിയായ എഴുത്തുകാരിയും കവയിത്രിയും നാടരചയിതാവുമാണ് അമ അട്ട ഐഡു (Ama Ata Aidoo, née Christina Ama Aidoo) (born 23 March 1942, Saltpond). ഘാനയിലെ ജെറി റോളിംഗ് മന്ത്രി സഭയിലെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രിയായിരുന്നു ഐഡു. അമ അട്ട ഐഡു 2000ത്തിൽ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ എഴുത്തുകാരികളെ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക, പിന്തുണയ്ക്കുക എന്നീ ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളോടുകൂടി മ്പാസേം ഫൗണ്ടേഷൻ രൂപീകരിച്ചു..[1]

ഘാനയിലെ സാൾട്ട്പോണ്ട് എന്ന സ്ഥലത്താണ് അമ അട്ട ഐഡു ജനിച്ചത്. ഐഡുവിന്റെ പിതാവ് നാന യാവ് ഫാമ, ഇദ്ദേഹം അബായ്ഡ്സി ക്യാകോർ എന്ന പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ അധികാരിയായിരുന്നു. അമ്മയുടെ പേര് മാമെ അബാസെമ എന്നാണ്. 1961 മുതൽ 1964 വരെ ഐഡുവിന്റെ പിതാവ് അവളെ കേപ്കോസ്റ്റിലെ വെസ്ലി ഗേൾസ് ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ പഠിക്കാനായി അയച്ചിരുന്നു.[2] വെസ്ലി ഗേൾസ് ഹൈസ്കൂളിലെ പ്രഥമാധ്യാപിക അവൾക്ക് ആദ്യമായി ഒരു ടൈപ്റൈറ്റർ വാങ്ങികൊടുത്തു. ഹൈസ്കൂൾ പഠത്തിനു ശേഷം ഘാന സർവ്വകലാശായലിൽ നിന്നും ബിരുദം നേടുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1964 ൽ ആണ് ഐഡു തന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ നാടകമായ ദ ഡിലേമ ഓഫ് ഗോസ്റ്റ് രചിച്ചത്.[3] ഈ നാടകം ലോംങ്മാൻ പുസ്തക പ്രസാധകർ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുച്ചു. ഐ‍ഡുവാണ് ആഫ്രിക്കയിലെ ആദ്യ സ്ത്രീ നാടകരചയിതാവ്..[4]
സ്റ്റാൻഫോർഡ് സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്നും സാഹിത്യത്തിൽ ഫെല്ലോഷിപ്പോടുകൂടി അവൾ അമേരിക്കയിൽ ജോലിചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഘാന സർവ്വകലാശാലയ്ക്കു കീഴിലുള്ള ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ആഫ്രിക്കൻ സ്റ്റഡീസിൽ ഗവേഷകയായിരുന്നു. കേപ്കോസ്റ്റ് സർവ്വകലാശായലിൽ അധ്യാപികയായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.
തന്റെ സാഹിത്യജീവിതത്തിനു പുറമെ 1982 ൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രിയായും ഐഡു സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചു. 18 മാസം വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രിയായിരുന്ന ഐഡു ഘാനയിലെ എല്ലാവർക്കും സൗജന്യവിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ലഭ്യമാക്കുക എന്ന തന്റെ ലക്ഷ്യം നിറവേറ്റാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എന്ന കാരണത്താൽ മന്ത്രി പദം രാജിവെച്ചു.[5] അവൾ കുറേ കാലം ഘാനയ്ക്ക് പുറത്ത് കുറച്ചുകാലം അധ്യാപികയായിരുന്നു. . അമേരിക്ക, ബ്രിട്ടൺ, സിംബാബ്‌വെ, ജെർമനി എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം ഇവർ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. 1990കളുടെ മദ്ധ്യത്തിൽ ന്യൂയോർക്കിലെ ഹാമിൽട്ടൺ കോളേജിൽ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് അധ്യാപികയായിരുന്നു. ഐഡു ഇപ്പോൾ ബ്രൗൺ സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ വിസിറ്റിംങ് പ്രൊഫസറാണ്.
