അക്കോൺ മരംകൊത്തി
ഓക്ക് മരങ്ങളിൽ ധാരാളമായി കാണുന്ന മരം കൊത്തികളാണ് അക്കോൺ വുഡ് പെക്കർ. ശരാശരി 20 സെന്റീമീറ്റർ നീളവും 85 ഗ്രാമോളം ഭാരവുമുള്ള പക്ഷികളാണിവ. കറുപ്പും വെളുപ്പും നിറമാണിവയ്ക്ക്. തലയിൽ ചുവപ്പ് നിറവും കാണാറുണ്ട്. ഓക്ക് മരത്തിലെ പഴങ്ങളാണ് ഇവയുടെ ഇഷ്ട ഭക്ഷണം. ഈ കായ്കൾ മരങ്ങളിൽ പൊത്തുണ്ടാക്കി സൂക്ഷിക്കാറുമുണ്ട്. ഓക്ക് മരങ്ങളുടെ നാശം അക്കോൺ പക്ഷികളുടെ നിലനിൽപ്പിന് ഭീഷണി ഉയർത്തുന്നുണ്ട്.
