ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയയിലെ ടാസ്മേനിയയുടെ വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ തീരത്തെ ബാസ് കടലിടുക്കിൽ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന 9,900 ഹെക്ടർ (24,000 ഏക്കർ) വിസ്തൃതിയുള്ള ഒരു ദ്വീപാണ് റോബിൻസ് ദ്വീപ്. ടാസ്മാനിയൻ പ്രധാന കരയിൽനിന്ന് രൂക്ഷമായ വേലിയേറ്റമുള്ള റോബിൻസ് പാസേജ്[3] എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രദേശത്താൽ വേർതിരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ ദ്വീപ് തെക്കുഭാഗത്തായി തൊട്ടടുത്ത വാക്കർ ദ്വീപിനടുത്താണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.[4]

ടേബിൾ കേപ്പ് മുതൽ മക്വാരി തുറമുഖത്തിന്റെ[5] പടിഞ്ഞാറ് ഭാഗത്തേക്കുവരെ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന തദ്ദേശീയ വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഗോത്രത്തിന്റെ അധിവാസകേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായിരുന്ന ഈ ദ്വീപിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും യൂറോപ്യൻ കോളനിവൽക്കരണത്തിന് മുമ്പ് പാർപർലോഹൈനർ ബാൻഡാണ് താമസിച്ചിരുന്നത്.[6]
