കാൽഗറി പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ കനേഡിയൻ പ്രവിശ്യയായ ആൽബർട്ടയിലെ ഒരു നഗരമാണ്. കനേഡിയൻ റോക്കീസിന്റെ മുൻനിരകളിൽ നിന്ന് ഏകദേശം 80 കിലോമീറ്റർ (50 മൈൽ) കിഴക്കായും, പ്രവിശ്യാ തലസ്ഥാനമായ എഡ്മണ്ടണിന് ഏകദേശം 299 കിലോമീറ്റർ (186 മൈൽ) തെക്കായും, കാനഡ-യു.എസ് അതിർത്തിക്ക് ഏകദേശം 240 കിലോമീറ്റർ (150 മൈൽ) വടക്കായും പ്രവിശ്യയുടെ തെക്കു ഭാഗത്തുള്ള ബോ നദിയുടെയും എൽബോ നദിയുടെയും സംഗമസ്ഥാനത്താണ് ഇത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.

കാൾഗറിയുടെ സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥയിൽ ഊർജ്ജ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ, സാമ്പത്തിക സേവനങ്ങൾ, ഫിലിം, ടെലിവിഷൻ വ്യവസായം, ഗതാഗതം, ലോജിസ്റ്റിക്സ്, സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ, ഉൽപ്പാദനം, എയ്‌റോസ്‌പേസ്, ആരോഗ്യം, ക്ഷേമം, റീട്ടെയിൽ, ടൂറിസം മേഖലകളിലെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു.[14] രാജ്യത്തെ 800 വലിയ കോർപ്പറേഷനുകളിൽ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് ഹെഡ് ഓഫീസുകൾ സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ പ്രദേശം കാൾഗറി CMA യാണ്.[15] ഏതെങ്കിലും പ്രധാന കനേഡിയൻ നഗരത്തിലെ ആളോഹരിയനുസരിച്ചുള്ള ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ കോടീശ്വരന്മാർ 2015 ൽ കാൽഗറിയിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.[16] 1988 ൽ വിന്റർ ഒളിമ്പിക് ഗെയിംസിന് ആതിഥേയത്വം വഹിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ കനേഡിയൻ നഗരമായി ഇത് മാറി.

2018 ലും 2019 ലും വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച ജീവിത സാഹചര്യമുള്ള നഗരമായി ഇക്കണോമിസ്റ്റ് ഇന്റലിജൻസ് യൂണിറ്റ് കാൽഗറിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. കഴിഞ്ഞ 10 വർഷമായി ഈ സ്ഥാനത്തേയ്ക്കുള്ള മികച്ച 5 മികച്ച മത്സരാർത്ഥികളിലൊന്നാണ് കാൽഗറി.[17] 2019 ൽ ഡ്രൈവർമാർക്കായുള്ള ലോകത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും മികച്ച നഗരമായി കാൽഗറി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[18]
