വൈ മാർഷ്
വൈ മാർഷ് കാനഡയിലെ ഒണ്ടാറിയോയിലെ ജോർജിയൻ ഉൾക്കടലിന്റെ തെക്കൻ തീരത്തുള്ള ഒരു തണ്ണീർത്തട പ്രദേശമാണ്. വൈ മാർഷ് ദേശീയ വന്യജീവി മേഖല 1978-ൽ ഇവിടെ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.[1] ഒണ്ടാറിയോ പ്രകൃതിവിഭവ മന്ത്രാലയം പ്രവിശ്യാ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഒരു തണ്ണീർത്തടമായി ഇതിനെ നാമനിർദ്ദേശം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.[2]

അധിവാസമേഖല തിരുത്തുക
1639-ൽ ജെസ്യൂട്ട് മതപ്രചാരകർ എത്തിയ കാലത്ത് ഹ്യൂറൺ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരാണ് ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് അധിവസിച്ചിരുന്നത്. വൈ തടാകത്തിന്റെ വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മൂലയിൽ ജെസ്യൂട്ടുകൾ മിഷൻ സ്ഥാപിച്ച സ്ഥലം ഇപ്പോൾ സെന്റ് മേരി എമംഗ് ദ ഹ്യൂറൺസ് എന്നാണ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. അക്കാലത്തെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഹ്യൂറൺ ഗ്രാമം വൈ മാർഷിനും സമീപത്തുള്ള ടിനി മാർഷിനും ഇടയിലാണ് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്തിരുന്നത്.[3] 1650-ഓടെ ഇറോക്വോയിസുമായുള്ള സംഘർഷം ശേഷിച്ച എല്ലാ മിഷനറിമാരെയും ഹ്യൂറോൺ വംശജരോടൊപ്പം ക്യൂബെക്കിലേക്ക് പോകാൻ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചു. ഏതാണ്ട് 150 വർഷത്തോളം ഈ പ്രദേശം പിന്നീട് ജനവാസമില്ലാതെ തുടർന്നു.[4]
