ഉക്രേനിയൻ, ^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] ബെലാറസ് ^[5]^[6]^[7]ദേശീയ വസ്ത്രങ്ങളിലെ എംബ്രോയിഡറി ഷർട്ടിന്റെ ഒരു സാധാരണ പേരാണ് വൈശിവാങ്ക (Ukrainian: вишива́нка [ʋɪʃɪˈʋɑnkɐ] or виши́ванка [ʋɪˈʃɪʋɐnkɐ];^[8] Belarusian: вышыванка, romanized: vyšyvánka). ഉക്രേനിയൻ എംബ്രോയിഡറിയിലെ പ്രത്യേക പ്രാദേശിക എംബ്രോയിഡറി സവിശേഷതകളാൽ ഉക്രേനിയൻ വൈശിവാങ്കയെ വേർതിരിക്കുന്നു.^[2]

പരമ്പരാഗത റഷ്യൻ വനിതാ വസ്ത്രത്തിൽ നീളമുള്ള മുഴുവൻ പാവാട കൈകൾക്ക് തൊട്ടുതാഴെയായി തോളിലൂടെ ഒരു നാടയിൽ തൂക്കിയിട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സാരഫാനോടൊപ്പം വൈശിവാങ്ക കാണപ്പെടുന്നില്ല. ^[4]

ഉക്രേനിയൻ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വിവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ, "വൈശിവങ്ക" എന്ന വാക്ക് മറ്റൊരു ഭാഷയിൽ നിന്ന്‌ കടമെടുത്ത ഒരു വാക്ക്‌ ആണ്. ^[9]മുഴങ്കാൽ പാവാടയുടെ സ്കോട്ടിഷ് ഉത്ഭവത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അമേരിക്കൻ പൈതൃകത്തിന്റെ മൃദുചർമ്മപാദുകത്തെക്കുറിച്ചോ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന അതേ രീതിയിൽ ഉക്രേനിയൻ ജനത അഭിമാനപൂർവ്വം വൈശിവങ്കയെ നിർവചിക്കുന്നു.^[10]ഈ പദത്തിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം "സ്റ്റിച്ച് പാറ്റേണുകൾ" എന്നർത്ഥം വരുന്ന ഈസ്റ്റ് സ്ലാവിക് പദമായ "വൈശിവങ്ക" എന്നതിൽ നിന്നാണ്.

ഉക്രേനിയൻ എംബ്രോയിഡറിയിൽ, കറുപ്പ്, ചുവപ്പ്, വെള്ള നിറങ്ങൾ അടിസ്ഥാനപരമാണ്, മഞ്ഞ, നീല, പച്ച എന്നിവ അനുബന്ധമാണ്.^[11]^: 278
