വിദൂര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കൗൺസിൽ

വിദൂര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കൗൺസിൽ (Distance Education Council (DEC) വിദൂരവിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും ഓപ്പൺ സർവ്വകലാശാലാരീതിയും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുകയും നിയന്ത്രിക്കുകയും വിലയിരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുവാനായി നിലവിൽ വന്ന സമിതിയാണ്. 1985ലെ ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി നാഷണൽ ഓപ്പൺ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ആക്റ്റിന്റെ [3][4] ഖണ്ഡിക 16 അനുസരിച്ചാണ് ഈ കൗൺസിൽ സ്ഥാപിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്[5][6][7]. കൗൺസിലിന്റെ അധ്യക്ഷസ്ഥാനം ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി ഓപ്പൺ സർവ്വകലാശാല) വൈസ് ചാൻസിലർ ആണ് വഹിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ 2013-ജൂണിൽ ഈ സമിതി അസാധുവാക്കപ്പെടുകയും വിദൂര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ ബ്യൂറോ( Distance Education Bureau) എന്ന പേരിൽ പുതിയൊരു സമിതി യൂണിവഴ്സിറ്റി ഗ്രാൻറ്സ് കമീഷന്റെ കീഴിൽ നിലവിൽ വരികയും ചെയ്തു.[9]. അസാധുവാക്കപ്പെട്ട കൗൺസിലിന്റെ സകല ചുമതലകളും പുതിയ ബ്യൂറോ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. [10]
