റേച്ചൽ ആൻ മക്ആഡംസ് (ജനനം: നവംബർ 17, 1978)[1][2] ഒരു കനേഡിയൻ അഭിനേത്രിയാണ്. യോർക്ക് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിൽനിന്ന് 2001 ൽ നാലുവർഷ പഠന കാലാവധിയുള്ള തീയേറ്റർ പ്രോഗ്രാമിൽ ബിരുദമെടുത്തതിനുശേഷം പ്രാഥമികമായി കനേഡിയൻ ടെലിവിഷനിൽ പരിപാടികൾ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുകയും പെർഫക്ട് പൈ (2002) പോലെയുള്ള ഏതാനും സിനിമകളിൽ അഭിനയിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ സിനിമയിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന് ഒരു ജെനീ അവാർഡിന് പരിഗണിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. "മൈ നേം ഈസ് ടാനിനോ" (2002) എന്ന ഹാസ്യചിത്രത്തിലും കോമഡി പരമ്പരയായ "സ്ലിംഗ്സ് ആൻറ ആരോസ്" ലും അഭിനയിക്കുകയും ഇതിലെ അഭിനയത്തിന് ഒരു ജെമിനി അവാർഡ് ലഭിക്കുകയുമുണ്ടായി.

റേച്ചൽ ആൻ മക്ആഡംസ് നവംബർ 17, 1978 ന് കാനഡയിലെ ഒന്റാറിയോയിലെ ലണ്ടനിൽ, നഴ്സ് സാന്ദ്ര (ഗെയ്ൽ) ട്രക്ക് ഡ്രൈവർ ലാൻസ് മക്ആഡംസ് എന്നിവരുടെ പുത്രിയായി ജനിച്ചു.[3] ഒരു പ്രൊട്ടസ്റ്റന്റ് കുടുംബത്തിലാണ് അവൾ സെന്റ് തോമസിൽ വളർന്നത്.[4][5] മാതാപിതാക്കളുടെ മൂന്ന് മക്കളിൽ മൂത്തവളായ; അവൾക്ക് ഒരു ഇളയ സഹോദരി കെയ്‌ലീൻ മക്ആഡംസ് (ജനനം 1982), ഒരു മേക്കപ്പ് ആർട്ടിസ്റ്റും[6] ഒരു ഇളയ സഹോദരനും, ഒരു വ്യക്തിഗത പരിശീലകനായ ഡാനിയൽ "ഡാൻ" മക്ആഡംസും ഉണ്ട്.[7][8][9] സ്കോട്ടിഷ്, ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്, ഐറിഷ്, വെൽഷ് വംശജയാണ് മക്ആഡംസ്.[10][11][12] അവളുടെ അഞ്ചാമത്തെ മുത്തച്ഛൻ, ജെയിംസ് ഗ്രേ, അമേരിക്കൻ വിപ്ലവകാലത്ത് ഒരു ലോയലിസ്റ്റ് റേഞ്ചറായിരുന്നു, കൂടാതെ സരട്ടോഗ യുദ്ധത്തിന് ശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം കാനഡയിലേക്ക് പലായനം ചെയ്തു.[13][14][15]

മക്ആഡംസിന് നാല് വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ ഫിഗർ സ്കേറ്റിംഗ് ആരംഭിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ പെയർ സ്കേറ്റിംഗ് പരിശീലനത്തിനായി ഒമ്പത് വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ ടൊറന്റോയിലേക്ക് മാറാനുള്ള അവസരം നിരസിച്ചു.[16] 18 വയസ്സ് വരെ അവൾ സ്കേറ്റിംഗിൽ മത്സരിച്ചു, പ്രാദേശിക അവാർഡുകൾ നേടി.[17][18][19] സ്കേറ്റിംഗ് പിന്നീട് ഒരു ഹോബി മാത്രമായി മാറി. സ്കേറ്റിംഗ് തന്നെ ശാരീരിക അഭിനയത്തിന് പാകപ്പെടുത്തിയെന്ന് അവൾ പറഞ്ഞു, കാരണം അത് അവളുടെ ശരീരവുമായി "ഇണങ്ങാൻ" പരിശീലിപ്പിച്ചു.[20]

മക്ആഡംസ് മർട്ടിൽ സ്ട്രീറ്റ് പബ്ലിക് സ്കൂളിലും സെൻട്രൽ എൽജിൻ കൊളീജിയറ്റ് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിലുമായി വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ചെയ്തു.[21][22] പഠന പരമായി പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ഇഷ്ടമല്ലാത്തിതിനാൽ സ്‌കൂളിൽ പോകാതിരിക്കാൻ പലപ്പോഴും അസുഖം നടിച്ചുവെന്ന് അവർ പിൽക്കാലത്ത് പറഞ്ഞു.[23][24] എന്നിരുന്നാലും, അവൾ വിദ്യാലയ ജീവിതത്തിൽ സജീവമായിരുന്നു. സ്‌പോർട്‌സ് കളിക്കുന്നതിനു പുറമേ (വോളിബോൾ, ബാഡ്മിന്റൺ, സോക്കർ എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ),[25] സ്റ്റുഡന്റ് കൗൺസിലിൽ അംഗമായിരുന്നതോടൊപ്പം ക്രൈം സ്റ്റോപ്പേഴ്‌സ് പ്രോഗ്രാമിൽ പങ്കെടുക്കുകയും ഒപ്പം പിയർ ഹെൽപ്പിംഗ് ടീമിലെ അംഗവുമായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുയും ചെയതു.[26] മൂന്ന് വർഷത്തോളം വേനൽ അവധിക്കാലത്ത് അവൾ ഒരു മക്ഡൊണാൾഡ് റെസ്റ്റോറന്റിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.[27][28]

ഏഴ് വയസ്സുള്ളപ്പോൾ അഭിനയ താൽപ്പര്യം ഉണർന്ന അവളെ മാതാപിതാക്കൾ നിരുത്സാഹപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ലെങ്കിലും, അവൾക്കായി ഒരു ഏജന്റിനെ കണ്ടെത്താൻ അവർ ശ്രമിച്ചില്ല.[29] കുട്ടിക്കാലത്ത് ഡിസ്നി, ഷേക്സ്പിയർ തുടങ്ങിയ പേരുകളിലുള്ള കലാപരമായ വേനൽക്കാല ക്യാമ്പുകളിൽ അവൾ പങ്കെടുത്തു.[30] 12 വയസ്സ് മുതൽ, ലണ്ടൻ പ്രൊഡക്ഷൻസിലെ[31] ഒറിജിനൽ കിഡ്‌സ് തിയറ്റർ കമ്പനിയുടെ നാടക പരിപാടികളിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത അവർ കൗമാരത്തിന്റെ അവസാനത്തിൽ കുട്ടികളുടെ നാടകങ്ങൾ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്തു.[32] വിദ്യാലയത്തിലെ നാടക നിർമ്മാണങ്ങളിലും ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന അവർ സിയേഴ്‌സ് ഒന്റാറിയോ ഡ്രാമ ഫെസ്റ്റിവലിൽ ഒരു പ്രകടന അവാർഡ് നേടി.[33][34] 11, 12 ക്ലാസുകളിൽ യഥാക്രമം ഇംഗ്ലീഷും നാടകവും പഠിപ്പിച്ച രണ്ട് അധ്യാപകരാണ് അവൾക്ക് അഭിനയ രംഗത്തേയ്ക്ക് പ്രചോദനമായത്.[35] ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷണൽ അഭിനയ ജീവിതം ഒരു പ്രായോഗികമായ തെരഞ്ഞടുപ്പാണെന്ന് നാടക അധ്യാപകൻ അവളെ ബോധ്യപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിന് മുമ്പായി വെസ്റ്റേൺ ഒന്റാറിയോ സർവകലാശാലയിൽ[36] സാംസ്കാരിക പഠനം നടത്താൻ അവൾ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചിരുന്നു.[37][38][39]
