മെരിസ്റ്റെം കല

ഒരു മെരിസ്റ്റെം എന്നാൽ സസ്യങ്ങളിൽ വളർച്ച നടക്കുന്ന സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരേപോലുള്ള കോശങ്ങൾ അടങ്ങിയ കലകളാണ്. 

Tunica-Corpus model of the apical meristem (growing tip). The epidermal (L1) and subepidermal (L2) layers form the outer layers called the tunica. The inner L3 layer is called the corpus. Cells in the L1 and L2 layers divide in a sideways fashion, which keeps these layers distinct, whereas the L3 layer divides in a more random fashion.

മെരിസ്റ്റം കോശങ്ങൾ ഒരു സസ്യത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങൾ രൂപപ്പെടാൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു. മൂന്നു തരം മെരിസ്റ്റമാറ്റിക് കലകളാണുള്ളത്: ശീർഷ മെരിസ്റ്റെം (apical),മദ്ധ്യ മെരിസ്റ്റെം കലകൾ (intercalary) പാർശ്വ മെരിസ്റ്റം കലകൾ (lateral )എന്നിവയാണവ.
