മാർക്കസ് എമിലസ് ലെപിഡസ് (88 ബി സി - 12 ബി സി) റോമൻ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കിലെ ഒരു രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാവും രണ്ടാം ത്രിമൂർത്തി ഭരണകൂടത്തിലെ ഒരംഗവുമായിരുന്നു. ഇതേ പേരുള്ള ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അച്ഛൻ 78 ബി സി യുൽ കോൺസൾ ആയി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടയാളും ട്രാൻസാൽപീൻ ഗോൾ എന്ന പ്രവിശ്യയുടെ ഗവർണറുമായിരുന്നു. ലെപിഡസിന്റെ പിതാവു സെനറ്റുമായി ഒരു അധികാര വടംവലിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെട്ട് പ്രവിശ്യയിൽ നിന്ന് തന്റെ സേനയുമായി റോമിനെതിരെ വന്നയാളാണ്. ഒടുവിൽ കാറ്റുള്ളസ് ഇദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അച്ഛെ ഒരു പൊരിഞ്ഞ യുദ്ധത്തിനു ശേഷം തോൽപ്പിക്കുകയും, സാർഡീനിയയിലോട്ട് നാട് കടത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ലെപിഡസ് തുടക്കം മുതലെ സീസറിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ വിശ്വസ്തന്മാരിലൊരാളായിരുന്നു. ലെപിഡസ് തന്റെ പൊതു ജീവിതം 49 ബി സി യിലാണ് തുടങ്ങിയത്. സീസർ പോംപിയുമായി ഗ്രീസിൽ യുദ്ധം ചെയ്യുന്ന വേളയിൽ ലെപിഡസാണ് റോമിന്റെ മേൽനോട്ടം ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നത്. പോംപിയെ തോൽപ്പിച്ച് മടങ്ങിയ സീസർ വിശ്വസ്തതയ്ക്ക് പാരിതോഷികമായി ലെപിഡസിനെ കോൻസൽ ആവാൻ പിന്തുണച്ചു.[3]
