ഫെർഗസ് ഹ്യൂം

ഫെർഗൂസൺ റൈറ്റ് ഹ്യൂം (ജീവിതകാലം: 8 ജൂലൈ 1859 – 12 ജൂലൈ 1932), ഫെർഗസ് ഹ്യൂം എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനായ ഒരു ഇംഗ്ളീഷ്‍ നോവലിസ്റ്റായിരുന്നു.

ജീവിതരേഖ

ഫെർഗസ് ഹ്യൂം ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിൽ ജയിംസ് ഹ്യൂമിൻറെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ പുത്രനായി ജനിച്ചു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു മൂന്നു വയസു പ്രായമുള്ളപ്പോൾ കുടുംബം ന്യൂസിലാൻറിലെ ഡ്യൂണെഡിനിലേയ്ക്കു കുടിയേറി. അവിടെ ഒട്ടാഗൊ ബോയ്സ് ഹൈസ്ക്കൂളിൽ പഠനത്തിനു ചേരുകയും പിന്നീട് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ഓഫ് ഒട്ടാഗോയിൽ നിന്നു നിയമം പഠിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1885 ൽ ന്യൂസിലാൻറ് ബാറിലേയ്ക്കു പ്രവേശനം ലഭിച്ചു. ബിരുദം ലഭിച്ചതിനുശേഷം ആസ്ട്രേലിയയിലെ മെൽബോണിലേയ്ക്കു മാറി. അവിടെ ഒരു അഭിഭാഷകൻറെ കീഴിൽ ക്ളർക്കായി ജോലി നേടി. അക്കാലത്ത് നാടകങ്ങളെഴുതുവാൻ തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അക്കാലത്ത് മെൽബോണിലുള്ള തീയേറ്റർ മാനേജർമാർ ഈ നാടകങ്ങൾ വായിച്ചുനോക്കാൻ പോലും തയ്യാറായിരുന്നില്ല.
