[[ചൈന]]യിലെ [[നിൻഗ്സിയ]] സ്വയംഭരണാധികര പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനവും ഏറ്റവും വലിയ നഗരവും, ചരിത്രത്തിലെ പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ സിയാ സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനവും ആണ് യിഞ്ചുവാൻ (Yinchuan).<ref>{{cite web|title=Illuminating China's Provinces, Municipalities and Autonomous Regions|url=http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/43597.htm|publisher=PRC Central Government Official Website|accessdate=2014-05-17}}</ref> ഇരുപതു ലക്ഷം ജനസംഖ്യയുള്ള ഈ നഗരത്തിന്റെ പേരിനർത്ഥം 'വെള്ളി നദി' എന്നാണ്. നഗരത്തിനു നടുവിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്ന മഞ്ഞ നദി(黃河, Huánghé)യിൽനിന്നുമാണ് ഈ പേരിന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം. താരതമ്യേനെ വരണ്ട പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ചൈനയിൽ, പ്രകൃതിഭംഗിയും കൃഷിക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായ സാഹചര്യങ്ങളും ഒത്തുചേരുന്നത് ഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ വളർച്ചയ്ക്ക് സഹായിക്കുന്നു.
