*കേരളത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതിയിട്ടുള്ള ഗ്രന്ഥം “A Description of the Coasts of East Africa and Malabar" എന്ന പേരിലാണ്‌ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. ഭാരതത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ആദ്യത്തെ പോർത്തുഗീസ് വിവരണഗ്രന്ഥം ഇതായിരുന്നു.

ഭാരതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ഒരു പോർട്ടുഗീസുകാരൻ രചിച്ച ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രധാന വിവരണ ഗ്രന്ഥം 'മലബാറിന്റേയും കിഴക്കൻ ആഫ്രിക്കയുടേയും തീരങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു വിവരണം' ആയിരുന്നു. കേരളത്തേയും ആഫ്രിക്കയേയും കുറിച്ച് മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാൻ ഇതിനേക്കാൽ മികച്ച ഒരു ഗ്രന്ഥം ഇല്ല എന്നാണ്‌ ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുന്നത്. കേരളത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതിയ വിവരണങ്ങളിലെ ചില പ്രസക്തഭാഗങ്ങൾ താഴെ കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
