ഇതുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ഉത്തരാർദ്ധത്തിൽ ലോകത്തിൻറെ ധൈഷണിക ജീവിതത്തെ സ്വാധീനിച്ച ചിന്തകരിൽ പ്രമുഖനാണ് മിഷേൽ ഫൂക്കോ. ഘടനോത്തരവാദം, ഉത്തരാധുനികത{{തെളിവ്}} തുടങ്ങിയെ ചിന്താധാരകളിൽ ഫൂക്കോ ഒരു വിചാരവിപ്ളവം തന്നെ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. ഇവക്ക് പുറമേ സ്ത്രീവാദം,നവചരിത്രവാദം,ഉത്തരമാർക്സിസം,അധിനിവേശാനന്തര ചിന്ത തുടങ്ങിയ മേഖലകളിലും തൻറെ ചിന്താമുദ്ര പതിപ്പിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് കഴിഞ്ഞു. സമകാലികരെയും തനിക്ക് പിമ്പേ വന്ന തലമുറകളേയും അതിശയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ധൈഷണികഗരിമയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചിന്തകൾക്ക്. ലോകം ഇന്നും ഒരു സമകാലികനെ എന്ന പോലെ ഫൂക്കോയെ വായിക്കുന്നു.
