==Updates and Ideas for and from the India communities (May 2012)==
Greetings! Here is another series of updates from across Indic language communities which might be useful for the Malayalam community!
* The first Indian language Wikipedia conference: [http://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B4%B5%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%95%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%95%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%AA%E0%B5%80%E0%B4%A1%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%AF:%E0%B4%B5%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%95%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%95%E0%B4%BF%E0%B4%B8%E0%B4%82%E0%B4%97%E0%B4%AE%E0%B5%8B%E0%B4%A4%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%B8%E0%B4%B5%E0%B4%82_-_2012/en WikiSangamolsavam] was successfully conducted by Malayalam Wikipedians in Kollam, Kerala.
* The [http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%A4%B5%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%95%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%AA%E0%A5%80%E0%A4%A1%E0%A4%BF%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%BE:Film Film project] in Hindi Wikipedia has been active since December, 2011 with 4 editors and over 1000 film articles. It's also an open invitation for more members to hop in and expand the project scope.
* Gujarati Wikipedians have started working on their third book on Wikisource called [http://gu.wikisource.org/wiki/%E0%AA%9A%E0%AA%B0%E0%AB%8D%E0%AA%9A%E0%AA%BE:%E0%AA%AD%E0%AA%A6%E0%AB%8D%E0%AA%B0%E0%AA%82%E0%AA%AD%E0%AA%A6%E0%AB%8D%E0%AA%B0 Bhadrambhadra]. They are also planning to conduct a Wiki summer camp for students in Gujarat.

The community is also planning an event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Assamese Wikipedia on June 10th, 2012.
* The [http://kn.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B2%B5%E0%B2%BF%E0%B2%95%E0%B2%BF%E0%B2%AA%E0%B3%80%E0%B2%A1%E0%B2%BF%E0%B2%AF:%E0%B2%85%E0%B2%A8%E0%B3%81%E0%B2%B5%E0%B2%BE%E0%B2%A6%E0%B2%97%E0%B3%8A%E0%B2%82%E0%B2%A1_%E0%B2%B2%E0%B3%87%E0%B2%96%E0%B2%A8%E0%B2%97%E0%B2%B3_%E0%B2%B8%E0%B2%82%E0%B2%B5%E0%B2%B0%E0%B3%8D%E0%B2%A7%E0%B2%A8%E0%B2%BE_%E0%B2%AF%E0%B3%8B%E0%B2%9C%E0%B2%A8%E0%B3%86 translation project] in Kannada Wikipedia is 12 members strong.
* The Odia community members have implemented the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Program/Pilot_Designs/Social_Media social media pilot] to attract newbies and engage them in editing via Facebook. This plan requires mentors from the existing community to guide new users to edit Wikipedia
* Here's is a list of all the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/India_Program/Outreach_Programs/Handbook#Repository_of_Documents_in_Indic_langauges Outreach documents] translated in Indic languages by respective community members. This is work in progress and all community members are welcome to help translate more documents!
