നാഷ്വിൽ, അമേരിക്കൻ ഐക്യനാടുകളിലെ സംസ്ഥാനമായ ടെന്നസിയുടെ തലസ്ഥാനവും ഡേവിഡ്സൺ കൌണ്ടിയുടെ കൌണ്ടി സീറ്റുമായ നഗരമാണ്. സംസ്ഥാനത്തിൻറെ കിഴക്കു ഭാഗത്തായി കംബർലാൻറ് നദിയ്ക്കു സമീപമാണ് ഈ നഗരം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്.

തിരുത്തുക1779 ൽ ജെയിംസ് റോബർട്ട്സൺ, ജോൺ ഡൊണൽസൺ, ഒരു കൂട്ടം ഓവർമൗണ്ടെയിൻ ആളുകളുമായിച്ചേർന്ന് (അമേരിക്കൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത, അപ്പലേച്ചിയൻ പർവതനിരകളുടെ പടിഞ്ഞാറുള്ള അമേരിക്കൻ അതിർത്തി പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കുടിയേറിയിരുന്നവരാണ് ഓവർ മൌൗണ്ട് മെൻ) ഫോർട്ട് നാഷ്ബറോയിലെ യഥാർത്ഥ കമ്പർലാന്റ് കുടിയേറ്റ കേന്ദ്രത്തിനുമ സമീപം നാഷ്വിൽ നഗരം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. അമേരിക്കൻ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യസമരത്തിൽ പങ്കെടുത്ത യുദ്ധ നായകനായ ഫ്രാൻസിസ് നാഷിന്റെ പേരായിരുന്നു നഗരത്തിനു നല്കപ്പെട്ടത്. തന്ത്രപ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള സ്ഥാനം, ഒഹിയോ നദിയുടെ കൈവഴിയായ കംബർലാൻഡ് നദിയിലെ ഒരു തുറമുഖം എന്ന നില, പിൽക്കാലത്തെ ഒരു പ്രധാന റെയിൽവെ കേന്ദ്രമെന്ന അതിന്റെ സ്ഥാനം എന്നീ കാരണങ്ങളാൽ നാഷ്വിൽ നഗരം അതിവേഗത്തിൽ വളർന്നു. 1800 ഓടെ നഗരത്തിൽ 345 പേർ വസിച്ചിരുന്നു, ഇതിൽ 136 പേർ ആഫ്രിക്കൻ അമേരിക്കൻ അടിമകളും 14 സ്വതന്ത്രരായ കറുത്ത വർഗ്ഗക്കാരുമായിരുന്നു.[6] 1806-ൽ നാഷ്വിൽ ഒരു നഗരമായി ഏകീകരിക്കപ്പെടുകയും ടെന്നസിയിലെ ഡേവിഡ്സൺ കൗണ്ടിയുടെ കൗണ്ടി സീറ്റായി മാറുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1843-ൽ ടെന്നസി സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ സ്ഥിരം തലസ്ഥാനമായി ഈ നഗരം നാമനിർദ്ദേശം ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
