ജോനിത ഗാന്ധി ന്യൂഡൽഹിയിൽ ജനിച്ചു. അവർക്ക് ഏതാനും മാസങ്ങൾ മാത്രം പ്രായമായപ്പോൾ കുടുംബത്തോടൊപ്പം കാനഡയിലേക്ക് പറിച്ചുനടപ്പെട്ടു. കാനഡയിലെ ടൊറന്റോയിലും ബ്രാംപ്ടണിലുമായാണ് വളർന്നത്.[4] ഹോബിയെന്ന നിലയിൽ സംഗീത്തെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിരുന്ന ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് എഞ്ചിനിയറായിരുന്ന പിതാവ് തന്റെ മകളുടെ സംഗീതത്തിലുള്ള അഭിരുചി തിരിച്ചറിയുകയും അവരെ പാടാൻ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു.
