ഖേതാ റാം

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രശസ്തനായ ഒരു കായിക താരമാണ് ഖേതാ റാം.(ജനനം 1986 സപ്തം 20).2016ലെ റിയോ ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ മാരത്തോൺ അത്‌ലറ്റിക്സിൽ ഇന്ത്യയെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് പങ്കെടുക്കാൻ അവസരം ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈന്യത്തിലെ ഒരംഗമാണ്..[1]

ജനറൽ ക്വാട്ടയിലൂടെയാണ് സൈന്യത്തിൽ അംഗമായത്. ജമ്മുവിലെ സാംബയിലാണ് നിയമിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. ലോക സൈനിക ഗെയിംസ് പോലുള്ള മത്സരത്തിലടക്കം നിരവധി കായിക ഇനങ്ങളിൽ ഇന്ത്യയെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് മത്സരിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അടുത്തിടെയാണ് തൻറെ കോച്ചായ സുരേന്ദ്ര സിംങ് ഖേതാ റാമിനെ മാരത്തോൺ മത്സരങ്ങളിൽ പങ്കെടുപ്പിക്കുവാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്.[2] പൂനെയിലെ ആർമി സ്പോർട്സ് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിൽ വെച്ചാണ് പരിശീലിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. ബാംഗളൂരുവിലെ യാസ് കോംപ്ലക്സിലും പരിശീലനം നേടി.[3]2016ലെ സമ്മർ ഒളിമ്പിക്സിൽ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മറ്റു രണ്ട് മാരത്തോൺ മത്സരാർഥികളായ ടി ഗോപി, നിതേന്ത്ര സിങ് റാവത്ത് എന്നിവരോടൊപ്പം മത്സരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

രാജസ്ഥാനിലെ ബാർമർ ജില്ലയിലെ ഖോസ്കർ എന്ന ഗ്രമത്തിലാണ് ജനിച്ചത്.ജാട്ട് റെജിമെൻറിലെ നായിക് സുബൈദാർ കുടുബവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടവരാണ് കുടുംബം.നാല് സഹോദരന്മാരും ഒരു സഹോദരിയുമുണ്ട്. സ്കൂൾ കാലം മുതലെ ദിവസവും നാല് കിലോമീറ്റർ ഓടുന്ന പതിവുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പെട്ടെന്ന് വരുമാനം നേടുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ തൻറെ പതിനെട്ടാം വയസ്സിൽ അദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ത്യൻ സൈന്യത്തിൽ ചേർന്നു.തൻറെ കായിക മത്സരങ്ങളിലെ ബഹുമതി സൈന്യത്തിലും നേട്ടമായി.സാധാ അത്ലറ്റുകൾക്ക് നൽകുന്നതുപോലുള്ള നീണ്ടു നിൽക്കുന്ന പരിശീലനത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ഇളവ് നേടാൻ തൻറെ കായിക മത്സരങ്ങളിലെ ശേഷി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സഹായിച്ചു.അതെസമയം മാതാപിതാക്കളോ ഭാര്യയോ മതിയായ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിട്ടില്ല.തൻറെ കുടുംബത്തിലെ വരുമാനം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്ന ഏക അംഗം കൂടിയാണ് ഖേതാ റാം.[2]രണ്ട് കുട്ടികളും ഉണ്ട്.ഒളിബിക് താരമാണെങ്കിൽ തനിക്ക് ഏതെങ്കിലും കോർപ്പറേറ്റു കമ്പനികളുടെ സ്പോൺസർഷിപ്പ് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടില്ലെന്നും ഖേതാ റാം വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.[3]
