[2] കോസ്റ്റാറിക്ക, പനാമ, കൊളംബിയ, ഇക്വഡോർ, വെനിസ്വേല, ഗിയാന, ബ്രസീൽ, ബൊളീവിയ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ഇവ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ഊർജ്ജസ്വലമായി പടർന്നുകയറുന്ന കുറ്റിച്ചെടിയായ ട്രൈക്നോസ് ടോക്സിഫെറ, ചുറ്റുമുള്ള മരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് ഉയരത്തിൽ കയറുകയും ടെൻ‌ഡ്രിലുകൾ വഴി ശാഖകളിൽ സ്വയം പിന്തുണയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.[3]

വിഷപദാർത്ഥമായ ക്യൂറേറിന്റെ പ്രധാന ഉറവിടമാണ് ട്രൈക്നോസ് ടോക്സിഫെറ. ആദിവാസികൾ സാധാരണയായി ക്യുറേർ അമ്പിൽ പുരട്ടി മൃഗങ്ങളെ വേട്ടയാടുന്നതിന് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. വിഷാംശമേൽക്കുന്ന മൃഗങ്ങൾക്ക് പേശീക്ഷയമുണ്ടാവുകയോ മരണം സംഭവിക്കുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നു. [4][5]
