The book has been the subject[1] of multiple, non-trivial[2] published works whose sources are independent of the book itself.[3] This includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, other books, television documentaries and reviews. Some of these works should contain sufficient critical commentary to allow the article to grow past a simple plot summary. - ശ്രദ്ധേയരായ വ്യക്തികളുടെയോ എഴുത്തുകാരുടെയോ (വിക്കിയിൽ താളുണ്ടാക്കൻ തക്ക ശ്രദ്ധേയതയുള്ള) കൃതികൾക്കും ശ്രദ്ധേയതയുണ്ട് എന്ന് കണക്കാക്കാവുന്നതല്ലേ? ഉദാഹരണത്തിന് അബ്ദുൾ കലാമിന്റെയോ, കെ. ആർ. നാരായണന്റെയോ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾക്ക് പുരസ്കാരങ്ങൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടാവണമെന്നില്ല. അവ വിവാദങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കാൻ സാദ്ധ്യതയില്ല. പക്ഷേ അവയ്ക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധേയതയുണ്ട് എന്നാണെന്റെ തോന്നൽ.
- മലയാളത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള പഴക്കമുള്ളതും വിരളവുമായ പുസ്തകങ്ങൾക്ക് ശ്രദ്ധേയതയുണ്ടെന്ന് കണക്കാക്കിക്കൂടേ? ഇരുപതാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ ആദ്യപകുതിയിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ച ഒരു പുസ്തകത്തിനെപ്പറ്റിയുള്ള ഇൻഫോബോക്സിൽ തന്നെ അക്കാലത്തെ ഒരു പ്രിന്റിംഗ് പ്രസ്സിനെപ്പറ്റിയോ പ്രസാധകനെപ്പറ്റിയോ ഉള്ള (ചരിത്രപരമായി പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളതും വിജ്ഞാനകോശത്തിൽ ഇടം പിടിക്കത്തക്കതുമായ)വിവരങ്ങൾ കാണും. പക്ഷേ ആ പുസ്തകം മറ്റൊരു തരത്തിലും ശ്രദ്ധേയമായിരുന്നിരിക്കില്ല.

An analysis of the manner of treatment is crucial as well; Slashdot.org for example is reliable, but postings to that site by members of the public on a subject do not share the site's imprimatur. Be careful to check that the author, publisher, agent, vendor. etc. of a particular book are in no way interested in any third party source.
- ↑ Independent does not mean independent of the publishing industry, but only refers to those actually involved with the particular book.
- ↑ Self-promotion and product placement are not the routes to having an encyclopedia article. The published works must be someone else writing about the book. (See Wikipedia:Autobiography for the verifiability and neutrality problems that affect material where the subject of the article itself is the source of the material). The barometer of notability is whether people independent of the subject itself (or of its author, publisher, vendor or agent) have actually considered the book notable enough that they have written and published non-trivial works that focus upon it.
