Second Anglo-Dutch War
the Anglo-Dutch wars ഭാഗം

Top: Dutch Attack on the Medway, June 1667 Pieter Cornelisz van Soest c. 1667. The captured ship Royal Charles is right of centre.

Bottom: The Four Days' Battle, 11–14 June 1666 (Abraham Storck), depicts the most famous battle of the Second Anglo-Dutch War. The painting shows several events of the largest sea fight in the age of sail, with almost 200 ships involved. Located in the center is the dutch flagship De Zeven Provinciën of admiral Michiel de Ruyter being attacked by the Prince Royal under admiral George Ayscue flying the flags of the White Squadron. Later, Prince Royal will run aground and has to surrender due to danger from Dutch fireships, but it is later burned anyway. In between, the Royal Charles can just be seen losing her main topmast. In the far left background, the Swiftsure is being captured (she cannot be the sinking ship in the foreground, as is often stated, since she was taken to the Netherlands after the battle).
