[[തൃശ്ശൂർ|തൃശ്ശൂരിൽ]] നിന്ന് 20 കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കുമാറി സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന, ജില്ലയുടെ വടക്കുഭാഗത്തെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ട ഈ പട്ടണം വടക്കുഭാഗത്തുള്ള ചെറുപട്ടണങ്ങളെ പരസ്പരം ബന്ധപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിൽ പ്രധാന പങ്ക് വഹിക്കുന്നു. [[വാഴാനി അണക്കെട്ട്|വാഴാനി ഡാം]], [[പൂമല ഡാം]] എന്നിവ ഈ പ്രദേശത്തിന് വളരെ അടുത്തു കിടക്കുന്ന ടൂറിസം ടെസ്റ്റിനേഷനുകളാണ്.
