Porpoises are small cetaceans of the കുടുംബം Phocoenidae. They are distinct from ഡോൾഫിനുകൾ, although the word "porpoise" has been used to refer to any small ഡോൾഫിൻ, especially by sailors and fishermen. Porpoises, divided into seven സ്പീഷീസ്, live in all oceans, mostly near the shore.
