വേൾഡ് സ്പെയ്സ് വീക്ക് അസോസിയേഷൻ ഒരു സർക്കാരിതര ലാഭേച്ഛയില്ലാത്ത സംഘടനയാണ് (non-government, non-profit organization).ബഹിരാകാശ യാത്രികരും ഗവേഷകരുമായ നിരവധി വ്യക്തികളാണ് ഇതിൻറെ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്ന ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡിലുള്ളത്.ബഹിരാകാശരംഗത്ത് രാജ്യങ്ങൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള സഹകരണം വർദ്ധിപ്പുക്കുന്നതിനും ബഹിരാകാശ ശാസ്ത്ര രംഗത്തെ കുറിച്ച് പൊതു ജനങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽ അവബോധം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ്
