89 ഇനം തിമിംഗലങ്ങൾ, ഡോൾഫിനുകൾ, പോർപോയിസുകൾ എന്നിവ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു ഇൻഫ്രാ ഓർഡെറാണ് സിറ്റേഷ്യ. ഇവയെ പല്ലുള്ള തിമിംഗലങ്ങൾ (Odontoceti) എന്നും ബാലീൻ തിമിംഗലങ്ങൾ (Mysticeti) എന്നും രണ്ട് ഉപ വിഭാഗങ്ങളായി വിഭജിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഈയസീൻ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഏകദേശം 26 മുതൽ 17 ദശലക്ഷം (mya) വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപാണ് ഇവ രണ്ട് വ്യത്യസ്ത വിഭാഗങ്ങളായി പരിണമിച്ചത്.
