[[മധുര|മധുരയിൽ]] ചിത്രീകരിച്ച "കാട്ചിപ്പിഴൈ" എന്ന ഹ്രസ്വചിത്രം, [[കലൈഞ്ജർ ടി.വി]] സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച നാളൈയ ഇയക്കുണർ എന്ന മത്സരപരിപാടിയിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി. ഇതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് മറ്റു ചിത്രങ്ങളും നിർമ്മിച്ചു. 2012 - ൽ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ ലഘു ബജറ്റ് ചലച്ചിത്രമായ [[പിസ (ചലച്ചിത്രം)|പിസയാണ്]] കാർത്തിക് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത ആദ്യത്തെ ചലച്ചിത്രം. ഈ ചലച്ചിത്രത്തിലെ പ്രവർത്തനത്തിന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് 2013 - ലെ മികച്ച സംവിധായകനുള്ള SIIMA പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിക്കുകയുണ്ടായി.
 
ഇതിനു ശേഷം പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ മധുരയിലെ അധോലോകവുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ജിഗർതണ്ട എന്ന ചിത്രം 2014 സെപ്തംബർ മാസത്തിലാണ് റിലീസ് ചെയ്തത്. ഈ ചലച്ചിത്രവും നിരൂപകരുടെ പ്രശംസ കരസ്ഥമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.
