1938 ലും 1939 ലും പരാജയപ്പെട്ട ശ്രമങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം, 1952 ജൂൺ 13 ന് ലൂസിയൻ ജോർജും വിക്ടർ റസ്സൻബെർഗറും ( [[ഫ്രാൻസ്|ഫ്രഞ്ച്]] പര്യവേഷണത്തിലെ [[സ്വിറ്റ്സർലാന്റ്|സ്വിസ്]] അംഗങ്ങൾ) ചൗക്കംബ ഒന്നാമനെ ആദ്യമായി കയറി. ഭഗീരഥി-ഖരക് ഹിമാനികളിൽ നിന്ന് അവർ വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ മുഖത്തേക്ക് കയറി. ഫ്രഞ്ച് ആൽപിനിസ്റ്റും സഞ്ചാരിയുമായ മാരി-ലൂയിസ് പ്ലോവിയർ ചാപ്പലും പ്രശസ്ത ഫ്രഞ്ച് ആൽപിനിസ്റ്റും മലകയറ്റക്കാരനുമായ എഡ്വാർഡ് ഫ്രെൻഡോയും ഈ പര്യവേഷണത്തിലെ മറ്റ് അംഗങ്ങളായിരുന്നു.
