[[സസ്തനി]]കളെ വർഗ്ഗീകരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിലെ ഒരു [[നിര]]<nowiki/>യാണ് '''പ്രൊബോസിഡേ (Proboscidea)'''. (from the Greek προβοσκίς and the Latin proboscis). ഇന്നുള്ളതിൽ ഏക കുടുംബമായ Elephantidae -യും നിരവധി വംശനാശം വന്ന കുടുംബങ്ങളും ഇതിൽ അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. 1811-ൽ J.
