[[അയർലന്റ്|അയർലൻറിലെ]] റോസ്കോമൺ കൌണ്ടിയിലുള്ള കിൽഗെഫിനിലെ ഇടവക വികാരിയായിരുന്ന റവ. വില്ല്യം ഷെപ്പാർഡിൻറെ (മരണം 1856) ഏകമകളായിരുന്ന ബിതിയ ഫ്രാൻസിൽ ടൂർസിലുള്ള ചെഷയറിലെ റോക്ക്ഫെറിയിലാണ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ചെയ്തത്. അവർ കിൽഡയർ പട്ടണത്തിലെ പ്രശസ്തയായ കുതിരസവാരിക്കാരിയുമായിരുന്നു. 1871 ൽ ബിതിയ റോയൽ സ്കോട്ട്സ് ഫ്യുസിലിയേർസിലും പിന്നീട് റോയൽ മുൺസ്റ്റർ ഫ്യൂസിലിയെർസിലും ഓഫീസറായി സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചിരുന്ന ജോൺ സ്റ്റോക്സ് ക്രോക്കർ (1844 – 1911) എന്നയാളെ വിവാഹം കഴിച്ചു.
1877 ൽ ബിതിയ ഭർത്താവിനോടൊപ്പം മദ്രാസിലേയ്ക്കും (ചെന്നൈ) പിന്നീട് ബംഗാളിലേയ്ക്കും പോയി. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ അവർ 14 വർഷം താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൽ തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലുൾപ്പെട്ട മലമ്പ്രദേശമായ വെല്ലിങ്ടണിലും (നീലഗിരി ജില്ല) കുറച്ചു കാലം താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇവിടെവച്ച് അനേകം സാഹിത്യകൃതികൾ രചിച്ചിരുന്നു. ചൂടുള്ള കാലാവസ്ഥയിൽ എഴുതുക എന്നത് അവരുടെ ഒരു ഭ്രമം ആയി മാറി. 1892 ൽ അവരുടെ ഭർത്താവ് ലഫ്റ്റനൻറ് കേണൽ പദവിയിലിരിക്കെ ഉദ്യോഗത്തിൽനിന്നു വിരമിക്കുകയും ദമ്പതിമാർ ആദ്യ അയർലൻറിലെ വിക്ൿലോ കൌണ്ടിയിലേയ്ക്കും പിന്നീട് ലണ്ടനിലേയ്ക്കും അവസാനം തെക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ തുറമുഖ പട്ടണമായ ഫോൾക്ക് സ്റ്റോണിലേയ്ക്കും പോയി. അവിടെവച്ച് 1911 ൽ അവരുടെ ഭർത്താവ് മരണപ്പെട്ടു. അവർക്ക് ഐലീൻ (ജനനം 1872) എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു മകളുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. മകളടുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും റോക്ക്ഫെറിയിലായിരുന്നു. അവർ വായന, സഞ്ചാരം നാടകവേദി എന്നിവയിൽ താല്പര്യം കണ്ടെത്തി. 1920 ഒക്ടോബർ 20 ന് ലണ്ടനിലെ 30 ഡോർസെറ്റ് സ്ക്വയറിൽ വച്ച് അവർ അന്തരിക്കുകയും ഫോൾക്ക് സ്റ്റോണിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു.
