[[വടക്കൻ കടൽ|വടക്കൻ കടലിനരികിലായി]] സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്ന ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഡച്ച് നഗരമാണിത്, ഹാഗ്ലാന്റെൻ എന്ന നഗരസമുച്ചയത്തിന്റെ (conurbation) കേന്ദ്രമാണ് ഈ നഗരം. നെതർലന്റ്സിൽ എല്ലായിടത്തും അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്ന കാലാവസ്ഥയാണ് (Koppen Cfb) ഇവിടേത്തത് എങ്കിലും സമുദ്രസാമീപ്യം കാരണം ശൈത്യകാലത്തിന് കാഠിന്യം കുറവും വേനൽക്കാലത്ത് ചൂട് കുറവും അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നു.
