1825 ൽ പെല്ലി അറ്റ്‌കിൻസ് നെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്ത അന്ന ഹാൾസ്റ്റീഡ പ്ലേസ് ൽ താമസിച്ചു. അവിടെ വച്ചാണ് സസ്യശാസ്ത്രം കൂടുതലായി പഠിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങിയത് ആ സമയത്താണ് ഉണങ്ങിയ ചെടികളെ ശേഖരിക്കുവാനും പിന്നീട് അവയുടെ ഫോറ്റൊഗ്രാംസ് നിർമ്മിക്കുവാനും തുടങ്ങി.<ref name=HalsteadParish/>
