ഇന്നത്തെ [[കർണ്ണാടകം|കർണ്ണാ‍ടകത്തിലെ]] [[ഉത്തര കന്നഡ]] ജില്ലയിലെ [[ബനവാസി]] തലസ്ഥാനമായി ഭരിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു പുരാതന രാജവംശമായിരുന്നു '''കാദംബ രാജവംശം''' ([[കന്നഡ]]:ಕದಂಬರು) ക്രി.വ. ([[345]] - [[525]]). പിന്നീട് [[ചാലൂക്യർ]], [[രാഷ്ട്രകൂടർ]] തുടങ്ങിയ കന്നഡ രാജവംശങ്ങൾക്കു കീഴിൽ [[സാമന്തൻ|സാമന്തരായി]] ഇവർ അഞ്ഞൂറു വർഷത്തോളം ഭരിച്ചു. ഈ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഇവർ [[ഗോവ]], [[ഹനഗാൽ]] എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലേക്ക് പിരിഞ്ഞു. കാദംബ രാജവംശത്തിന്റെ സാമ്രാജ്യോന്നതി [[കാകൂഷ്ടവർമ്മൻ|കാകൂഷ്ടവർമ്മന്റെ]] കീഴിൽ ആയിരുന്നു. സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ ഉന്നതിയിൽ അവർ കർണ്ണാടകത്തിന്റെ ഒരു വലിയ ഭാഗം ഭൂമി ഭരിച്ചു.
