[[ബീറ്റിൽസ്|ബീറ്റിൽസിന്റെ]] ലീഡ് ഗിറ്റാറിസ്റ്റ് എന്ന നിലയിൽ ലോകപ്രശസ്തനായി. 1960-കളിൽ ഹരേ കൃഷ്ണ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തിലൂടെ ഭാരതീയ സംസ്കാരത്തിൽ ആകൃഷ്ടനായ അദ്ദേഹം ബീറ്റിൽസിനെയും ഇന്ത്യയിലേക്ക് ആനയിച്ചു. 1970-ൽ ബീറ്റിൽസ് വേർപിരിഞ്ഞതിനു ശേഷം സോളോ ഗായകനായും സംഗീതസപര്യ തുടർന്നു. 1988-ൽ ''ട്രാവലിങ്ങ് വിൽബറീസ്'' എന്ന ട്രൂപ്പ് ആരംഭിച്ചു.
