ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വടക്കുകിഴക്കൻ ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ കണ്ടുവരുന്ന ഒരപൂർവ്വമൃഗമാണ് സ്വർണ്ണപ്പൂച്ച. പേരുസൂചിപ്പിക്കുംപോലെ ഇവയ്ക്ക് അൽപം സ്വർണ്ണനിറമുണ്ട്. ആസാം, ബംഗാൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ നിത്യഹരിത വനങ്ങളിലും ഇല പൊഴിയും കാടുകളിലും താമസിക്കുന്ന ഇവയ്ക്ക് മുഖത്തും വാലിന്റെ ഭാഗത്തും മങ്ങിയ നിറമാണ്. പൊതുവെ രാത്രിസഞ്ചാരിയായ ഇവ പകൽ ഒളിത്താവളത്തിൽ വിശ്രമിക്കുന്നു.
