ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിലെ സൗത്ത് യോർക്ക്ഷെയറിലെ ഷെഫീൽഡിലുള്ള ഒരു പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ഫുട്ബോൾ ക്ലബ്ബാണ് ഷെഫീൽഡ് യുണൈറ്റഡ് ഫുട്ബോൾ ക്ലബ്, ഇത് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഫുട്ബോളിന്റെ ടോപ്പ് ഡിവിഷനായ പ്രീമിയർ ലീഗിൽ മത്സരിക്കുന്നു. 1889 ൽ ഷെഫീൽഡ് യുണൈറ്റഡ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ക്ലബിന്റെ ഒരു ഉപശാഖയായി ഈ ക്ലബ് രൂപീകരിച്ചു, ഷെഫീൽഡ് നഗരം ഉരുക്ക് ഉൽപാദനത്തിനു പ്രസിദ്ധമായതിനാൽ ദി ബ്ലേഡ്സ് എന്ന വിളിപ്പേരിലും ക്ലബ് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. ബ്രാമാൾ ലെയ്ൻ എന്ന സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിൽ ആണ് ക്ലബ് രൂപീകരിച്ചത് മുതൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ഹോം മത്സരങ്ങൾ കളിക്കുന്നത്.

ഷെഫീൽഡ് യുണൈറ്റഡ് 1898 ൽ ഫുട്ബോൾ ലീഗും 1899, 1902, 1915, 1925 വർഷങ്ങളിൽ എഫ്എ കപ്പും നേടി. 1901 ലും 1936 ലും എഫ്‌എ കപ്പിന്റെ ഫൈനലിൽ എത്തിയ അവർ, 1961, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2014 എന്നീ വർഷങ്ങളിൽ സെമി ഫൈനലിലെത്തി. 2003 ലും 2015 ലും അവർ ലീഗ് കപ്പിന്റെ സെമി ഫൈനലിലെത്തി.

1892–93 ൽ പുതുതായി രൂപംകൊണ്ട രണ്ടാം ഡിവിഷനിൽ നിന്ന് ഒന്നാം ഡിവിഷനിലേക്ക് സ്ഥാനക്കയറ്റം നേടിയ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഫുട്ബോളിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ക്ലബ്ബാണ് ഷെഫീൽഡ് യുണൈറ്റഡ്. 1992-93 സീസണിൽ പ്രീമിയർ ലീഗിന്റെ സ്ഥാപക അംഗം കൂടിയായിരുന്നു ക്ലബ്, പ്രീമിയർ ലീഗ് ആദ്യ ഗോൾ നേടിയതും ഷെഫീൽഡ് യുണൈറ്റഡ് ആണ്. മാഞ്ചസ്റ്റർ യുണൈറ്റഡിനെതിരെ 2–1ന് ജയിച്ച മത്സരത്തിൽ ബ്രയാൻ ഡീൻ ഷെഫീൽഡിനുവേണ്ടി ആദ്യ ഗോൾ നേടി.

ക്ലബ് രൂപീകരിച്ചതുമുതൽ, അവർ ഫുട്ബോൾ ലീഗിന്റെ 1 മുതൽ 4 വരെയുള്ള തലങ്ങളിൽ കളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട് . ഫുട്ബോൾ ലീഗിലെ മികച്ച നാല് തലങ്ങളിലും ചാമ്പ്യന്മാരായി ഫിനിഷ് ചെയ്ത നാല് ക്ലബ്ബുകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് അവ. എന്നിരുന്നാലും ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും ഒന്നാം ഡിവിഷനിൽ ആണ് ചിലവഴിച്ചത്.

ക്ലബ്ബിന്റെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും അവർ ചുവപ്പും വെള്ളയും വരയുള്ള ഷർട്ടുകളിൽ കറുത്ത ഷോർട്ട്സുമായി കളിച്ചിട്ടുള്ളത്. അവരുടെ ഏറ്റവും അടുത്ത എതിരാളികൾ ഷെഫീൽഡ് വെനസ്‌ഡേ ക്ലബ് ആണ്, ഇരുവരും തമ്മിലുള്ള മത്സരത്തെ സ്റ്റീൽ സിറ്റി ഡെർബി എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നു.
