മെസോഹിപ്പസ്
ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കുതിരയോട് രൂപസാദൃശ്യമുള്ളവയാണ് മെസോഹിപ്പസ് കുതിരകൾ. 38 ദശലക്ഷം വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപ് ഒലിഗോസീൻ കാലഘട്ടത്തിലാണ് ഇവ ഉണ്ടായത്.[1] വടക്കേ അമേരിക്കയിലെ സൌത്ത് ഡക്കോട്ട പ്രദേശത്ത് നിന്നും ഇവയുടെ ധാരാളം ഫോസിലുകൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.[2] ഇയോഹിപ്പസ് കുതിരകളെക്കാൾ നീളം കൂടിയ ഇവയുടെ തലയുടെ ഭാഗത്തിന് ഇപ്പോഴത്തെ കുതിരയുടെ തലയോട് സാമ്യമുണ്ട്.
