പോളിയെത്തിലീൻ ടെറഫ്തലേറ്റ് (sometimes written poly(ethylene terephthalate)), PET, PETE, (കാലഹരണപ്പെട്ട ചുരുക്കെഴുത്ത് PETP അഥവാ PET-P,) എന്ന് സാധാരണയായി ചുരുക്കി എഴുതുന്നു.ഏറ്റവും സാധാരണമാണ്. പോളിയെസ്റ്റർ കുടുംബത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും സാധാരണയായ തെർമോപ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് പോളിമർ റെസിൻ ആണ്. വസ്ത്രങ്ങൾക്കും, ദ്രാവകങ്ങൾക്കും ഭക്ഷണസാധനങ്ങൾക്കും ഉള്ള കണ്ടെയ്നറുകൾ, ഉൽപാദനത്തിനുള്ള തെർമോഫോമിംഗ്, എൻജിനീയറിംഗ് റെസിനു വേണ്ടി ഗ്ലാസ് ഫൈബറിനൊപ്പവും ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ട്.

യു.കെ.യിലെ ടെറിലിൻ (Terylene),[5] റഷ്യയിലും സോവിയറ്റ് യൂണിയനിലും ലവ്സാൻ (Lavsan), അമേരിക്കയിൽ ഡക്രോൺ(Dacron ) എന്നിവ ബ്രാൻഡ് നാമങ്ങളെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു .
