ജോൺ ഫ്രാങ്ക്ലിൻ ബാർഡിൻ
ജോൺ ഫ്രാങ്ക്ലിൻ ബാർഡിൻ (ജീവിതകാലം: നവംബർ 30, 1916 മുതൽ ജൂലൈ 9, 1981 വരെ[1] ) ഒരു അമേരിക്കൻ ക്രൈംനോവൽ എഴുത്തുകാരനായിരുന്നു. 1946 നും 1948 നും ഇടക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം എഴുതിയ മൂന്ന് നോവലുകളുടെ പേരിലാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ പ്രശസ്തനായിരുന്നത്.

ഒഹിയോയിലെ സിൻസിനറ്റിയിലാണ് ജോൺ ബാർഡിൻ ജനിച്ചത്.[2][3] അവിടെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻറെ പിതാവ് ഒരു കൽക്കരി വ്യാപാരയും മാതാവ് ഒരു ഓഫിസ് ജോലിക്കാരിയുമായിരുന്നു.[4] ഏറ്റവുമടുത്ത് കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളെല്ലാവരും തന്നെ വിവിധ രോഗങ്ങൾ വന്ന് മരണമടഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.[2] മൂത്ത സഹോദരി സെപ്റ്റിസീമിയ വന്നു മരണമടയുകയും ഒരു വർഷത്തിനുശേഷം പിതാവ് ഹൃദയസംബന്ധമായ അസുഖത്താൽ മരണമടയുകയും ചെയ്തു. അക്കാലത്ത് ബാർഡിൻ വാൽനട്ട് ഹിൽസ് ഹൈസ്കൂളിൽ നിന്നു ബിരുദ പഠനം കഴിയുകയും യൂണിവേഴ്സറ്റി ഓഫ് സിൻസിനറ്റിയൽ എൻജീനീയറിംഗ് പഠനത്തിനു ചേരുകയും ചെയ്തു. പക്ഷേ ആദ്യ വർഷം തന്നെ അവിടെനിന്നു പോകുകയും വിവിധ ജോലികൾ ചെയ്ത് ഒടുവിൽ ഒരു ബുക്ക് സ്റ്റോറിലെ രാത്രകാല ക്ലർക്കായി ജോലി ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇക്കാലത്ത് ധാരാളം വായിക്കാനുള്ള അവസരങ്ങൾ കൈവരുകയും പഠനം സ്വയം തുടരുകയും ചെയ്തു.[5]
1944 ൽ എഡ്വിൻ ബേർഡ് വിൽസൺ എന്ന പരസ്യക്കമ്പനിയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. 1946 മുതൽ 1948 വരെയുള്ള കാലത്ത് "The Deadly Percheron", "The Last of Philip Banter", "Devil Take the Blue-Tail Fly" എന്നിങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പ്രശസ്തനാക്കിയ മൂന്ന് നോവലുകൾ പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിരുന്നു. തൻറെ ജീവിതകാലത്ത് ബാർഡിൻ 10 നോവലുകളെഴുതിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.[6]
