ചിവേരെ ഭാഷ

അമേരിക്കയിലെ ആദിവാസി വിഭാഗമായ മിസൗറിയ, ഒടോയി, ഇയോവ ജനതകൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ഭാഷയാണ് ചിവേരെ Chiwere (also called Iowa-Otoe-Missouria or Báxoje-Jíwere-Ñút’achi). മഹാതടാകങ്ങൾ കിടക്കുന്ന പ്രദേശത്താണ് ഈ ജനതയുടെ ഉത്ഭവം. പിന്നീട് ഇവർ, മദ്ധ്യ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ പീഠഭൂമിയിലേയ്ക്ക് താമസം മാറ്റി. ഈ ഭാഷ്യക്ക് ഹോചുങ്ക് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വിന്നെബാഗോ ഭാഷ്യൗമായി അഭേദ്യമായ ബന്ധമുണ്ട്. 1830കളിൽ ക്രിസ്ത്യൻ മിഷണറിമാർ ആണ് ഈ ഭാഷ ആദ്യമായി രേഖപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. എന്നാൽ അന്നുതൊട്ട് ഇതിനെപ്പറ്റി ഒന്നും പ്രസാധനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നില്ല. യൂറോപ്യന്മാരുടെയും അമേരിക്കക്കാരുടെയും സ്വാധീനം മൂലം ഈ ഭാഷ ക്ഷയോന്മുഖമാകുകയും 1940കളോടെ ഇതു സംസാരിക്കുന്ന ആരും നിലവിലില്ലാതെ വരുകയും അങ്ങനെ ഈ ഭാഷ മറ്റൊരു മൃതഭാഷയായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്തു.
